A leading educationalist who has worked at the highest levels in teaching shared anecdotes and her experiences in teaching with over 250 students, as well as staff and parents at our annual speech day on Friday 18th September.
Jill Berry has over 30 years of educational experience, including as Head Teacher of Dame Alice Harpur School in Bedford. Since leaving full-time education in 2010 she divides her time between studying for a Professional Doctorate in Education, working as an educational consultant and serving as an Associate within the International Division of the National College for Teaching and Leadership.
Tom Brooksby, Headmaster, says: “It was real privilege to welcome Jill to the school. As a former Head Teacher she understands the significance of events such as our Speech Day in the school calendar. It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements and endeavours of all our students and for close family members to share in these special occasions.”
Mrs Berry presented prizes to our Year 7-13 students for outstanding student contributions, sporting achievements and examination and academic success over the past school year. She says: “I always love returning to inspiring learning environments. Ockbrook School nestles in just such a setting and it is a delight to breathe in the enthusiasm and energy of the school’s students, staff, parents and governors.”
