Singing evensong at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel, the venue for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, was the highlight for many of our students during an unforgettable school trip to London, that also included top art galleries and a West End show.
Mr Swindell, Director of Music; Mrs McGahey Head of Art and Design; and Ms Lee, Director of Studies & Examinations Officer organised the action-packed itinerary for our Year 10-13, art students and senior school choir.
After an exclusive tour around the state rooms at Windsor Castle, our choir had a quick rehearsal in the dungeons. It was an unusual environment for a vocal warm up, with graffiti scratched into the walls of cells by prisoners from times gone by.
Having completed preparations, our choir sang evensong in St George’s Chapel, surrounded by the incredible history of the venue. Students were showered with praise and our own Ms Lee, who accompanied the choir on the organ, stayed on to play as the congregation filed out of the service. We loved every minute of it!
Visits to London’s top art galleries, the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern and Victoria and Albert Museum, were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone; and if that wasn’t enough, we also had a fantastic evening out at the West End and watched the musical ‘Wicked’.
